Mrs. G is a very active 73 year old woman who was admitted to Cortlandt Healthcare after being hospitalized for a surgical repair of a fracture in her right leg. The fracture was a result of a fall that the resident had at home. Prior to falling the resident was dependant in all of her activities of daily living and driving a car. Upon admission to CHC Mrs. G had 21 staples in the surgical site with complaints of pain. Functionally the resident required a maximum assistance to move in and out of bed, walk, dress and toileting. The resident was evaluated and placed on a skilled PT and OT program, each program was focused on returning Mrs G. to her prior level of function. With the clinical care Mrs. G received from nursing along with the intense therapy program the resident was able to discharge to home in two and a half weeks at her prior level of function!!
