Details of Experience:

Miss. Hlibczuk was admitted to The Riverside Premier Rehabilitation and Healing Center on the first of May, 2017 from New York Presbyterian Hospital with a diagnosis of cellulitis and Erythema (skin condition). The medical staff at the hospital felt she would benefit from short term rehab. Being a long time “upper west side” resident, Miss. Hlibczuk selected The Riverside, which is located in the heart of the upper west side of Manhattan.
Upon arrival, Miss. Hlibczuk received a warm welcome from various different team members, including daily visits from a member of the concierge services team to ensure that her stay would be as comfortable as possible.

Miss. Hlibczuk’s ability to ambulate was limited to 30 feet with contact guard assist as well as needing assistance while using the facilities. This was very frustrating to Miss. Hlibczuk as she was accustomed to completing these activities of daily life independently prior to falling ill.
Miss. Hlibczuk’s therapists worked very closely with her during her stay. Day-by- day and week-by-week, Miss. Hilbczuk continued to make progress. After approximately three weeks, Miss. HIlbczuk was able to perform her daily activities with limited supervision!

After a total of five weeks, Miss. Hlibczuk was discharged from The Riverside feeling renewed and all set to return to her daily life back home.
Several weeks later, Miss. Hilbczuk’s unfortunately suffered another injury while home, causing severe swelling to her ankle. After a short hospital stay, the medical staff felt it necessary for Miss. Hlibczuk to seek short term rehabilitation once again. Being that Miss. Hlibczuk received outstanding care during her first stay at The Riverside, choosing a skilled nursing facility for a second time was a no-brainer.

Once again, Miss. Hlibczuk was greeted by various team members including that of the Administrator and Director of Nursing. At this time, Miss. Hilbczuk was unable to bear any weight on her right foot. She showed signs of decreased strength, decreased balance, and functional instability. To ensure proper healing, Miss. Hlibczuk would require physical and occupational therapy.

Being that she could not bear any weight on her ankle, Miss. Hlibczuk was forced to remain in bed. After one week of intense physical and occupational therapy, Miss. Hlibczuk was upgraded to moderate assist. Miss. Hlibczuk kept on pushing forward. The following week she was upgraded once again, this time to standby assist. Today she is able to walk on her own with minimum supervision. When Miss. Hlibczuk was admitted to The Riverside, she was barely able to walk 10 feet. She is now walking over 300 feet and she has never been more excited!

Miss. Hlibczuk is set to discharge back home on Tuesday the 4th of October and looking forward to returning home to her grandchildren. Miss. Hlibczuk stated “At The Riverside, I received nice treatment. The staff is very friendly and kind at all times.” Miss. Hlibczuk also mentioned she intends to return as a visitor to the staff at The Riverside in the future. She stated, “While I was at home after my first stay, I was constantly thinking about my wonderful experience at The Riverside.” We wish Miss. Hlibczuk nothing but the best moving forward!
