Details of Experience:
Cyrus was admitted to The Enclave at Rye Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on June 6th, 2019 from Northern Dutchess Hospital, as a result of a right femur fracture. Upon his arrival, he was warmly greeted by members of the interdisciplinary team, including the nurses, therapists, and a physician.

Sheldon, the physical therapist, and Tim, an occupational therapist, met Cyrus and performed their initial evaluations, as well as preliminary goals. He presented with muscle weakness, decreased standing balance and activity tolerance, and limited standing duration of under one minute, which severely impacted his ability to independently perform basic activities of daily living (ADL’s). He also required assistance in performing transfers in and out of bed and bed mobility. Short term goals were established to help him regain strength, while nursing carefully monitored pain levels so that he could maximize his time in therapy.

In less than two weeks, Cyrus realized that he was making excellent progress in a rapid, and steady pace. On June 18th, only 12 days into his stay, Cyrus was ready to do a very skilled and fun activity. He used our amazing and critically acclaimed HydroWorx machine. He says that it was really a great experience and highly recommended. From that point on, Cyrus was ready to reach ‘Home Plate’ in his therapy.

On June 27th, Cyrus was discharged back home with renewed strength and independence. He is now able to stand on his own on his first try, without using the arms of his wheelchair, or his walker. He has a good, steady balance while standing, and his continuous turning of 360 degrees went from unsteady to steady. He can also sit down safely without having to use the arms of his wheelchair, which he originally required. The Team would like to congratulate Cyrus on his accomplishments and hard work!
