Details of Experience:
Pierre Dominque was admitted to Mercy Medical Center after suffering a stroke on September 4th, 2019. Upon discharge, the patient was transferred to the Grand Pavilion on September 23rd with a diagnosis of dysphasia following cerebral infarction (difficulty swallowing after stroke). Upon arrival at the Grand Pavilion, Mr. Dominque was welcomed and made comfortable by members of our clinical team including Concierge, Nursing, Rehab, and Social Work.

The patient was evaluated by our dedicated therapy team where it was determined that Mr. Dominque was in the need for intense physical and occupational therapy. The patient had decreased performance with ADL’s (activities of daily living), was not able to ambulate safely, and it was noted had decreased muscle strength. He was also in need of speech therapy, due to the stroke, which affected his swallowing and speech.

It was the staff’s pleasure to work alongside this determined, self-motivated patient, who strived to reach his goals quickly. Mr. Dominque always had a smile on his face and showed appreciation to the dedicated staff. He was supported by his loving family, who were there for him to celebrate his successes throughout his journey.

As this patient worked consistently to reach his goals, it was to no one’s surprise that he was enjoying great progress and was able to ambulate 350 feet independently in short order, while maintaining good standing balance. The Grand Pavilion was delighted to send Mr. Dominque home on December 16th, just in time to spend the holidays with his family.

The Grand Pavilion staff sends well wishes and continued health prayers for Mr. Dominque and is proud of the challenges he conquered and the goals that he reached.
