Mr. Jones had been feeling under the weather for several days when he had a conversation with his loving wife. His spouse had noticed some unusual changes in his health, which she brought to his attention. As the days passed, the patient continued to decline with pulmonary concerns being the most urgent issue. Due to growing concerns about the Coronavirus pandemic, people were worried about being admitted to a hospital. To ease his wife’s anxieties, Mr. Jones agreed to head to the hospital for an evaluation.

Mr. Jones’ experience in the hospital is one that tells a harrowing tale of bravery, courage, and the determination of the human spirit. Mr. Jones suffered a stroke, contracted coronavirus, was placed on a ventilator for fifty-seven days, and in a medically induced coma. Upon waking up, the patient had no recollection of his trying experience…a true blessing, no doubt. After receiving acute rehab at the hospital, Mr. Jones was discharged to The Riverside, where he had to be retrained on standing, shifting his weight, and taking his first steps in four months. A very challenging goal.

When Mr. Jones first arrived at the Riverside, he required total assistance and was very concerned that he would never return to his former self. Knowing the desire to return to his family, Mr. Jones excelled in his therapy sessions, as he remains eager to get back home He is now able to stand (two-person assist) and take ten steps before needing to take a seat.
