Details of Experience:
Dorothy was admitted to The Enclave at Rye Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on April 23, 2021, from Greenwich Hospital. The Enclave at Rye was recommended to Dorothy by her doctor after an exacerbation of COPD.

Upon arrival, Dorothy was welcomed by the concierge and was immediately evaluated by the interdisciplinary team, including nursing, rehabilitation, social services, concierge, and recreation departments. Shortly after, a personalized treatment plan was created by the team. Dorothy would benefit from physical and occupational therapy. 

Robert, her physical therapist, and Vanessa, her occupational therapist, met with Dorothy, and they got to work. Because of the COPD, Dorothy was having a hard time breathing, and she was on oxygen all day. She required maximum assistance with all of her ADL’s, as well as, she couldn’t walk or transfer. Her therapists were going to work extra hard so that Dorothy could return home fully functional.   

Dr. Abbey and the nursing team worked with Dorothy monitoring her oxygen and trying to stabilize her breathing. Dorothy was a regular in the day room, where she enjoyed her morning coffee with a pastry. She participated in all the recreational activities, and she enjoyed a special bond with our Concierge, Moshe. Dorothy’s daughter would come and visit regularly and sip some Dunkin Donuts coffee with mom. We loved watching the bonding at these visits.

Dorothy’s therapists and the nursing team were able to work their magic on Dorothy. They completely got Dorothy off of oxygen, and Dorothy could walk with a rollator walker over 350 feet! She became completely independent with all her ADL’S including bathing and using the bathroom.

On June 19th, Dorothy was discharged back home feeling and looking great. Dorothy loved all the staff and commented how much she would miss all of us! We wish Dorothy success as she returns to her life, and we are so proud of her for what she was able to accomplish!
