Details of Experience:

Ms. Mary Flood is a 92-year-old female with a positive outlook and happy demeanor. She was presented to the emergency room at Morristown Medical Center with abdominal pain. Subsequently, Mary had a CAT Scan showing Diverticulitis in the Sigmoid Colon with Micro Perforation. Next, Mary was admitted and straight away demonstrated Peritonitis, which resulted in Mary undergoing Laparoscopic Sigmoid Resection with End Colostomy. Mary was also diagnosed with COPD, Hypertension and Muscle Weakness.
Prior to discharge from the hospital, Mary was offered another rehabilitation facility for physical therapy; however, Mary insisted on being admitted to Chatham Hills Subacute Care Center as she had a previous positive experience at Chatham Hills.

Mary was admitted to Chatham Hills Subacute Care Center on 04/24/2017.

The personal tailored physical therapy plan of treatment for Mary was quite remarkable. They graciously assisted Mary overcome her pain and her subsequent hesitation. She worked hard on balance, transfer, exercise and gait training. She also worked with occupational therapy to regain her ability to complete self-care tasks. Mary had gone from a baseline walking 100 feet with CGA level surfaces all the way to 350 feet independently with the rolling walker!

As Marry shared, “I’m so happy that I am here at Chatham Hills! They treat their patients well; they have the best therapists! I couldn’t walk and now I could walk! I am doing very good with them and I recommend them to everybody! I love them! Even their directors and everyone! The doctor at the hospital didn’t think I can do it, but I did! I made it!

Mary’s Success Story:

Despite Mary’s complex medical history, Chatham’s Physical Therapy team lived up to Mary’s challenge. Mary was able to now walk more than 300 feet independently using a rolling walker. This enabled her to return home, family and to her son Bobby!
