Day 1 of Patient’s Stay:

Mrs. O’Reilly arrived at Heritage Center for Rehabilitation and Specialty Care on February 2, 2017 from an acute care hospitalization postoperative stay at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney, Ohio. Mrs. O’Reilly’s elective surgery for a right total hip replacement was primarily caused by osteoarthritis of the right hip. She had been experiencing difficulty walking and generalized muscle weakness.

After a successful procedure, Mrs. O’Reilly was told she would need inpatient rehabilitation to build her strength and increase her range of motion. She was referred to Heritage Center by Wilson Health’s Social Services Department for her recovery. O’Reilly knew of the tradition of excellent care and rehabilitation at Heritage and was comfortable with the transition.

When she arrived she was greeted by the Admissions Director and taken to her room. Within the first 24 hours she was greeted by many members of our professional team at Heritage Center to welcome her and answer any questions that she or her family may have had after arriving at the community. She was also assessed by physical and occupational Therapy to evaluate her current level of function and begin the rehabilitation process.

Week’s 1-2 of Patient’s Stay

In the following week of admission, O’Reilly continued to progress with the therapy department. Physical therapy was provided in order to enhance balance and gait abilities to reduce the risk for falls. Occupational therapy provided skills to increase independence with activities of daily living skills, which were developed and instructed in exercise programs and facilitated dynamic standing balance in order to enhance her strength to return home. O’Reilly commented that she would recommend Heritage Center to her family and friends. “The therapy department encouraged me to work hard and kept me going to make progress each day.” She explained that she was very satisfied with the care and service she received at Heritage Center and will return after her left hip replacement. “I would like to thank everyone at Heritage Center for doing such a great job.”

Heritage Center would like to Congratulate Mrs. O’Reilly on returning home after a short eight days. We are proud of you and happy to have assisted you back home!
