How did this patient hear about Oasis? Laurie Levin, LISW-S at the VA Hospital gave me a list and Oasis was on it. I chose it because it is close to home.
Details of Experience:
Mr. Oliver was admitted to Oasis Center for Rehabilitation and Healing on July 14, 2016 after falling several times at home causing injury to his right hip. Upon discharge from the VA Hospital in Cleveland, he was transferred to Oasis for short term rehab. Mr. Oliver stated that upon entering the facility, the Staff called him by name and it made him feel special.
Mr. Oliver said that even though Oasis is so close to home, he never knew how nice the facility was inside. He enjoyed the meals and said that the Dietary Staff made sure he had enough food. He participated in therapy daily and though there were days he said he preferred to stay in bed, Mr. Oliver knew that the therapy would make him stronger. Thanks to his Therapists, he said he is stronger and walking again. Mr. Oliver really enjoyed movie nights and said that he was finally able to watch a movie from start to finish. He was excited to share that he was in the movie Pearl Harbor with Ben Affleck and Cuba Gooding Jr. Though his appearance as a Captain on the ship was brief, he was very proud. Mr. Oliver is a veteran of the Navy and a proud member of the American Legion.
“I had a great stay here. Everyone treated me well. A fantastic stay. I hate to go home. When I have my hip surgery, I would like to come back for therapy, stated Mr. Oliver.”
Mr. Oliver will undergo hip surgery in about six month. The staff at Oasis will be here for you, Mr. Oliver to help you get back to your fullest potential of ReNEWal. TM Oasis would like to wish Mr. Oliver all the best.
