How did this patient hear about Platinum Ridge? Dr. Rakesh Kumar

Details of Experience:
Patient came to us on October 2nd, 2015 from Allegheny Valley Hospital after falling and breaking her hip. Even though she was not able to move very well without being in an excruciating amount of pain, she never lost her spunk and positive attitude. After getting to know this woman, it was learned that she had fallen while out dancing with some of her friends (at 89 years old). This patient was not able to ambulate herself, climb up or downs steps, or keep steady on her feet. Going from having enough balance and mobility to do the cha-cha to not being able to stand without assistance would be enough to crack anybody, but not this woman. She used it as drive to get better as quickly as she could. During her stay at Platinum Ridge, entertainment was brought in by Chuck Tamblyn. You could see this patient singing along with the tunes and dancing in her wheelchair! She didn’t let this set back get in the way of her groove! After a few weeks of daily rehabilitation, she really started improving. She was able to stand on her own and walk quickly down the hallways with assistance of a walker. Suddenly the steps became doable again as well. We have never had a more determined woman come through our doors and her love for life is inspiring to all! Patient was discharged to her home and says you can still see her on the dance floor but she will be a lot more careful this time around!
