How did this patient hear about the Riverside? SW at NYP Cornell-Wendy

Details of Experience:

Mr. Negron was admitted to The Riverside on February 28, 2017 from New York Weill Cornell Medical Center for his need for short term physical and occupational therapy.

Mr. Negron was admitted to the hospital with a primary diagnosis of physical debility and a secondary diagnosis of ischemic heart disease and malignant neoplasm of esophagus (a form of cancer). With a difficult medical history, it was understandable that Mr. Negron had a decline in his physical status and lost mobility. It was very hard for Mr. Negron to accept this and come to terms with accepting a bed in a short term rehabilitation center. After being told at the hospital what a short term rehabilitation facility could accomplish in terms of his mobility, Mr. Negron accepted an available bed at The Riverside Premier Rehabilitation and Healing Center.
Mr. Negron arrived to The Riverside just before 7:00pm on February 28 where he was greeted by the professional team at The Riverside. Mr. Negron was seen by the nursing team to conduct a full intake in order to ensure that all Mr. Negron’s medical needs would be met throughout his full stay. Within the first day, Mr. Negron was also evaluated by the therapy team for both physical and occupational therapy and following that he was placed on a full therapy program. Mr. Negron joined the full therapy program the following day where he started with Billy and Jen who really took exceptional care of him from the first day he started.

In the beginning it was a challenge, there was a lot of work that needed to be done. Slowly but surely as each day passed more and more was being accomplished; Mr. Negron started seeing a significant amount of progress.

Throughout this entire time, Mr. Negron was being cared for by the amazing nursing team, he makes an extra point to mention Miss. Joyce, Miss. Mary Charles and Miss. Monica who were there for him whenever he needed anything and were always checking to make sure he was comfortable. Mr. Negron mentions how clean the room and the building was around him throughout his stay.

As the therapy continued and progress was being made, Billy expressed to Mr. Negron the he knew it was hard for him but explained to him that he had keep working hard, in a positive and encouraging manner.

Mr. Negron says that because Billy and Jen pushed him and were focused on his therapy that he is able to discharge tomorrow being able to take four flights up the stairs to where he lives. When he first came in he had trouble even climbing a couple of stairs. He is very proud to say that now he is able to do five but humbly attributes it to his two therapists and the care he received from the entire team.

When it came to discharge, the Social Worker, Lynn, was there to arrange everything Mr. Negron needed to return home. Home care was arranged so that Mr. Negron could receive the care he needs at home.

Mr. Negron closed by mentioning how good the team communicated with him throughout his stay and he was kept informed through every step of the way.
