How did this patient hear about the Willows? Daughter
Details of Experience:
Angelina arrived to The Willows on 5/5/17 with a diagnosis of acute back pain, hypoxic respiratory failure, anxiety/depression and spinal stenosis. She is an 85-year-old female who is alert and oriented. Angelina recently moved to New York from Florida to live with her daughter after losing her husband.
She moved in with her daughter in a separate apartment right off the house that her family added to help take care of her mom’s daily needs. She is currently participating and progressing in occupational, physical and pulmonary therapy here at the Willows. Our goal is to have her return home safely and be able to lead a more active lifestyle. She works very hard every day in therapy and has exceeded most of the physical goals set for her. Angelina is an extremely motivated person, which will assist her return home faster. She came to us on oxygen as needed, but now she is able to do all activities safely on room air
There has been a steady increase day-to-day and week-to-week with her physical status and progress. She has completed a weekly six minute walk test and each week she has increased her distance, decreased the amount of breaks needed, decreased shortness of breath, and increased her oxygen status. With standing activity/exercise, she has shown a decrease in recovery time and her exercise tolerance has increased. She has also shown a good understanding of pacing and energy conservation. Angelina has really taken great strides and has put out maximum effort in each and every therapy session.
Angelina was not much of a social person when she came to the Willows. After spending some time with the other patients and staff she started to come out of her room to eat and socialize with the other patients. She was often asked how she was faring, overall. She responded, “I feel much better and I’m getting over my depression.” We at The Willows would like to wish her a happy & healthy life. Upon her return home, Angelina will be able lead a successful and more active, independent lifestyle.
