How did this patient hear about Water’s Edge: Previous patient

Details of Experience:

Charles Morrison and his wife, Diane, are often enjoying each other’s company at home or going out for a nice meal. Mr. Morrison began falling and found himself getting weaker. He was evaluated at St. Charles Hospital, where he was admitted for Acute Respiratory Distress. After spending three weeks in the hospital, it was recommended Charles rehabilitate at a sub acute rehabilitation center to regain his strength before returning home. As a former patient, Mr. Morrison knew Water’s Edge would be his first and only choice.

On November 27, 2019, Mr. Morrison was arrived at Water’s Edge Rehabilitation and Nursing Center where he was greeted by a number of our interdisciplinary team members. Albert Einstein once said, “In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity.” and Mr. Morrison found those opportunities in this difficult situation. With no hesitation, Charles was eager to get started right away on his journey. He never missed an opportunity to attend his Therapy sessions, make new friends during meals or participate in Therapeutic Recreational activities.

Mr. Morrison was referred to Rehabilitation due to his decrease in strength, lack of functional mobility, balance and fall prevention. His personal goal was to return home with his wife, and improve his strength and endurance while decreasing his risk for falls. Charles worked diligently with his therapists, Rob and Becky. Mr. Morrison worked with his physical therapist on gait training, weight shifting during transfers and bed mobility. Therapeutically graded exercises among many other individualized modalities were used to assist him in meeting his goals. While using the techniques he learned during physical therapy, his occupational therapist was using resistance exercises, gross motor coordination techniques, and customized modalities to improve ability to self support for self care tasks.

Along with the Rehabilitation team, Charles worked diligently every day to get to where he wanted to be. As discharge day neared, Mr. Morrison was excited to be going back home with his wife knowing he would miss his friends at Water’s Edge. Mr. Morrison stated “I picked Water’s Edge because I knew what to expect, I knew I’d be getting great care – I would never pick anywhere else.” The team at Water’s Edge wishes Charles a happy and healthy future!
