Details of Experience:
Robert W was admitted on February 4, 2026, after sustaining a displaced comminuted fracture of the shaft of his right humerus due to a fall while shopping. Prior to his injury, he lived independently at home and maintained an active lifestyle. He was transferred from West Boca Regional for rehabilitation, with a planned discharge date of April 3, 2026, for a total stay of 59 days.
On admission, Mr. W was pleasant and optimistic about his recovery. He was supported by his daughters and sons-in-law, who remained actively involved throughout his stay. Initial therapy assessments showed he required moderate assistance with transfers, maximum assistance with dressing, and could walk only 10 feet.
During his time in therapy, Mr. W made significant progress and spoke highly of the therapy team, especially Rob, Chris, and Billy. He appreciated their engaging and attentive approach, which helped keep him motivated. By discharge, he improved to supervision level for transfers and dressing and was able to walk 350 feet using a rollator walker.
Mr. W also enjoyed the community’s social environment. He spent time reading in the library, watching ducks from the patio, and connecting with other residents, visitors, and staff. He particularly enjoyed the weekly ice cream cart and suggested adding more snack or treat options to enhance the experience. He praised the nursing staff for their responsiveness and friendliness, often sharing lighthearted moments with them.
With a background as a pharmaceutical representative, he noted that both he and his professional network would recommend our community. He now looks forward to returning home with home health services and resuming his routine, including spending time with his dog and going out for coffee.
We wish him well as he continues on his healthcare journey.
