How did this patient hear about The Willows at Ramapo: From the Hospital
Details of Experience:
Geraldine (Geri) was admitted to The Willows after a fall at home. She came to us from the hospital diagnosed with cellulitis and chronic lymphedema. She also suffered from severe back pain due to spinal stenosis. When Geraldine was initially evaluated by rehab, she needed max assistance to perform all her activities of daily living and functional mobility. She relied on caregivers for almost all aspect of her daily functioning and was unable to walk. Her progress was slow and steady, and she was determined to return to her home.
With consistency and pure determination working alongside her therapist Lita, and the rest of our excellent rehab team, Geri started to regain her strength. Geri had to stay here a little longer than she wanted to as she waited for her home care to be in place. She also experienced an illness that set her back. None of these lessened her pure determination to get back home and back to herself. Her final trial at The Willows was to master a flight of stairs, which was the only thing that stopped Geri from going home. Geri came to the gym every day and climbed those stairs until she mastered it like the back of her hand.
Geri has stated that all the staff at the Willows were top tier, going above and beyond to fulfill her needs. A touching memory Geri shared with me was when her uncle passed, she was always able to count on me to be there as a shoulder to cry on, or just to talk it out.
Geri, not a day goes by since you left us that that we miss your amazing smile, that no quitting attitude and strength inspires me every day. Our daily chats may be done but you still call me from time to time, and I will ways be there for you. From all of us at the Willows, we wish you only good health, continued strength from the comfort of your own home.
