The Lebanon Center for Rehabilitation and Healing team welcomed 88-year-old Ms. Owens on December 2nd, 2025. Ms. Owens was greeted by our staff members after a stay at Vanderbilt Wilson County hospital, here in Lebanon Tennessee. Ms. Owens had a fall Thanksgiving Day 2025 that unfortunately caused multiple fractures to her body.
Before her fall, Ms. Owens was mobile and independent. She was able to do all the activities of daily living on her own, without extensive assistance. During this time, she enjoyed being able to spend time with her grandson, who offered a great support system to her.
Upon admission, Ms. Owens was evaluated by our therapy team and was determined to have decreased functional strength and bed mobility. Due to her fractures, it was difficult for her to stand, roll and pivot on her own. This required maximal assistance for Ms. Owens and to be dependent on several different areas. Our Physical and Occupational therapy department worked very patiently with her to help restore her mobility, strength, and ADLs.
Ms. Owens goals at the time were to “get stronger, heal, and return home with her grandson”. That is exactly what she has done. We are proud to have had Ms. Owens as our patient and so happy to be able to say she reached her goal.
From being unable to roll without assistance when she arrived and walking out of the community on her own! Ms. Owens had our full support and we were so blessed to have the opportunity to interact and support her.
Since her discharge, I have followed up with her twice and she has been doing well and happy to have reached her goals and be home.
