Details of Experience:
Resident came in a very weakened state. She is in middle of the Chemo process and along with being bed ridden in the hospital for a long period of time she lost mobility in her legs and couldn’t do basic every day life activities safely. Her daughter is a doctor, and knowing that, there was an added determination for our team to do an outstanding job.
Resident was met by all departments and assessed. She wasn’t happy with her room and it was hard to rest with a roommate so the Concierge, SW and Housekeeping departments did their best to accommodate her. We made 2 room switches through her stay here and she was very appreciative. The nurses assigned to her did a phenomenal job showing her attentive care and TLC. The resident also voiced her happiness with the dietician’s department. She isn’t of American background and has a hard time finding food that she likes and is available to her in a skilled nursing facility and that’s healthy for her particular diet. The resident stated: “My Dietician went out of her way to get me good food, thank you”.
The department that stood out to the resident and her family, though, was the Rehab/Therapy. There was major praise from her and daughter in regards to the rehab department in general and specifically the therapist assigned to her. She needed to be motivated and pushed- in a polite manner- and that’s exactly what she got. Her therapists were personal, caring and creating a relationship with her. She truly saw that it’s not just a job; that she actually meant something to them and they wanted her to succeed and get better. The resident completed all her goals, growing stronger and safer with each passing day. Before long (28 days later) she was ready to head home, with her daughter. She was extremely happy and proud of her accomplishments she had reached and passed while here and said she owes it all to the amazing Rehabilitation and therapists she experienced here at The Riverside.
