How did this patient hear about The Chateau at Brooklyn Rehabilitation & Nursing Center? Lives Locally
Ms. Anita Trachtman, a wonderful woman, who lives in Brooklyn is a very active woman that loved her independence and taking care of all her needs even at her age. Unfortunately, while driving home from shopping one evening, she was involved in a terrible car accident and that changed everything very quickly. While she was happy to have survived the accident and still be alive, she was in a great deal of pain and was in the need of a rehabilitation center to get her back to her original status. While at the hospital, she spoke to the social workers and told them that she wanted to go to The Chateau. They told her she would do very well there.
When she was discharged from the hospital and arrived at The Chateau, it was apparent that she needed the proper rehabilitation care. Both her legs broken, she had a few broken ribs that were causing her a lot of pain, and she had to wear a neck brace.
She was very uncomfortable and was happy when she was greeted by the concierge who told her that everything would go well for her and guaranteed her that she would be going home happy. Although she was unable to walk, and the doctors didn’t allow her to put any weight on her legs, she started working with the rehabilitation team immediately and was slowly but surely seeing improvement.
At first, she was happy to be able to sit up in bed on her own. She then began keeping score of all her milestones, whether it was being able to transfer to her chair alone, or the day her doctor allowed her to get up out of the chair and try taking a few steps. Each improvement made her so happy and she was so grateful to all the staff for helping her reach each goal.
After a few months of hard work and dedication, the staff started working on discharge plans for Anita. Anita was very happy to be going home and sat down to speak with the staff about her stay.
Anita stated, “my stay at The Chateau has been wonderful, all of the staff took wonderful care of me and made sure my every need was met. When I had some private family issues going on the staff went above and beyond to help me out and ensure that everything was done respectfully and properly. I will be forever grateful for the wonderful care that I got here and will make sure to come back and visit the amazing people here.”
We at The Chateau are so happy to have seen Anita go home walking by herself and being able to take care of everything independently. It was a long and hard journey but to see her at the end of it back to her original self, makes it all worth it. Although adapting back to life at home will be tough at first, the staff let her know she can always reach out for assistance and help with anything that she might need. We are confident that she will do well getting back to the life she lived prior to the accident!
