Details of Experience:
Mr. Robert Walker arrived at Sans Souci Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on December 11th from an inpatient hospitalization at Westchester Medical Center. Mr. Walker was admitted to Sans Souci after sustaining a stroke and experienced left-sided weakness. Mr. Walker required a rolling walker for ambulation upon admission.

Mr. Walker was greeted by multiple professionals from the Sans Souci interdisciplinary team who had anticipated his arrival. Within the first 24 hours, he was greeted by clinicians, therapists, physicians, administrative staff, and many other valued members of the Sans Souci team to welcome him and answer any questions that he may have had.

Mr. Walker began working with his physical therapist, Sam, and occupational therapist, Mike, to improve ambulation and for completion of his daily activities. Mr. Walker began his rehab requiring moderate assistance for ambulation and ADL’s. Mr. Walker shared he had a passion for music and enjoyed singing. He especially enjoyed the strolling violinist that frequently visits the Sans Souci community.

One week into his stay, Mr. Walker was able to ambulate 75 feet supervised using a rolling walker and were able to ascend 4 steps on the stairs.

Ms. Walker also enjoyed the luxury amenities at Sans Souci, such as the signature Hot Towel and Snack Cart program for residents.

Upon discharge, Mr. Walker was able to ambulate 300 feet using a rolling walker independently and ascend 8 steps on the stairs. Mr. Walker was safely able to perform bed mobilities and daily activities, such as grooming and dressing. Prior to leaving Sans Souci, Mr. Walker stated, “I had a great stay at Sans Souci.”
