Having initially resisted going to the hospital despite painful wounds on his toes, Boris eventually found himself in the ICU, on a ventilator for two and a half weeks, battling a severe infection. His hospital stay lasted a month and a half, marked by uncertainty, fear, and a critical turning point in his life. But Boris was not alone.

From the moment he entered our facility, the unwavering support of his devoted wife and loving daughter was evident. On his very first day, despite his weakened condition, Boris—with the encouragement and hands-on help of his family and staff—got out of bed and into a wheelchair. His wife and daughter were by his side daily, and his family and friends filled his days with visits, love, and motivation. Their presence was a constant reminder of his worth and strength.

One of the bright lights in Boris’s recovery was Diana, our dedicated Nurse Practitioner, who visited him every day. Her kindness, professionalism, and warm demeanor made a lasting impression. Her consistent care was part of a team effort that helped Boris feel seen, supported, and safe.

His recovery journey wasn’t easy. He started on pureed food—something he disliked—but gradually progressed to chopped meals, and eventually to regular foods. These small victories were significant milestones in his healing process.

Therapeutic passes gave him moments of joy and rejuvenation, like visits to the beach, reminders of life beyond recovery. And our therapy team—physical, occupational, and speech—became his champions. They didn’t just work with him; they believed in him. Boris often said he “came in as a dead man,” but through tireless dedication and expert care, they helped him rise again.

When Boris was admitted, he required maximum assistance for feeding, dressing, and transfers and was unable to walk. Today, thanks to his determination and our team’s relentless support, he is walking 300 feet with a rolling walker and needs only minimal assistance for some activities of daily living. His progress is nothing short of remarkable.

Boris is more than a patient—he is a former CEO with 30 years of experience, a man who knows the value of exceptional service. He was deeply moved by the compassion and dedication of our staff and recognized those who consistently went above and beyond.
