Details of Experience:
Francine was admitted to Mount Sinai South Nassau Communities Hospital on October 31, 2025, with Acute Hypoxic Respiratory Failure. After spending close to a month in the hospital, Francine’s care team determined that inpatient rehabilitation was the next best step, so she could regain strength and live independently once again. With the help of her care team, Francine and her family determined that Rockville Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center would be the best place for her rehab, in part because it offers physical, occupational, and respiratory therapy.

Upon arrival at Rockville, Francine was greeted by Kevin Welge, the Director of Concierge Services, who ensured she was comfortable and oriented in her new room. Francine was also able to meet with the nursing supervisor on staff and her rehab team. Once she settled in, Francine was ready to begin her rehab, and the incredible rehab staff was eager to help her get started.

At the beginning of her rehab, Francine was unable to feed herself and dress on her own, while requiring the assistance of two people to be able to transfer from bed to a wheelchair. Francine was determined to complete these tasks on her own or with as little assistance as possible. She used this motivation to work incredibly hard in her rehab. Francine focused a lot on walking with a rolling walker and getting dressed with as little assistance as possible.

Through an incredible amount of time and hard work, Francine is now able to walk at least 50 feet using the rolling walker and can fully dress herself with very little assistance. She is incredibly proud of the work she has accomplished at Rockville and will be discharged on April 1, 2026. She will forever be grateful to Rockville and all of the staff who helped her achieve her goals.
