Details of Experience:
We had a resident who was admitted to CHC on 8/29/14. Besides for a fall which fractured his right pelvic this resident also had a history of a stroke which occurred in 1993. Despite the stroke he was able to function relatively independently. However the fall caused a significant change in functional mobility.
Upon admission to CHC this resident presented with decreased strength, balance and decreased functional mobility, which caused an increased need of assistance from others.
Initially this resident was non-weight bearing on his right leg. Due to his weight bearing status and decreased strength this resident had to use a mechanical lift to get in and out of bed to a wheel chair. For all aspects of function he required extensive assist of 2 people.
With the great nursing care and extensive PT and OT services he received over 3 months he left CHC being able to walk greater than 200 feet with supervision and a quad cane! And progressed over all with all aspects of his activities of daily living!
