Reason for Stay: Clos fx C2 vertebra w/o mention sp crd injury/ Fall
Patient came to GP after a fall from walking up the stairs at home and claims that he broke his neck.
His primary diagnosis is; C2 Hangman Fracture s/p fall. He had a history of diabetes mellitus, bipolar disorder and unknown neck malignancy.
Patients’ daughter stated upon admission that Patient has decreased cognitive function but he is still able to express needs. He was very grumpy upon admission and was in intense pain. He refused any medications that is ordered for him, and refused care from all of the staff.
With many weeks of intensive physical therapy Patient became associated and friendlier with the rehab staff. Every day he looked forward to doing his exercises and seeing the friends that he has made from that unit. He became the most likable roommate.
By week 3 patients mood had changed completely. Patient has scored higher on all testing and engages in many recreational programs.
Upon discharge patient shared the great experience he had at the GP with all his friends and family. Patient has given his approval on us sharing this story with others.
