How did this patient hear about Ramapo Manor?
Details of Experience:
56 year old male patient had a diagnosis of DJD (degenerative joint disorder) and osteoarthritis characterized by severe pain. He was admitted to Ramapo Manor on June 18th, 2016 following a total right hip replacement. Post surgery, patient was cleared by his physician to weight-bear as tolerated, however patient presented with severe hip pain and was unable to bear weight on right lower extremity. Patient also presented with decreased standing tolerance and impaired balance with regard to left lower extremity. Thus, patient was unable to ambulate without pain and demonstrated a decline in performance of activities of daily living (ADLs). After a month of intensive physical and occupational therapy, patient made great gains. After the first week, patient presented with a decrease in pain which yielded improvement in ability to walk short distances with a rolling walker; during the second week, patient was able to perform functional ADLs requiring minimal assistance with fewer complaints of pain; in the third week, patient was able to stand and perform functional activities and walk moderate distances with a walker; lastly in the fourth week, patient was able to stand 45 minutes while performing a functional activity and was walking with a cane. Patient expressed great gratitude to the therapy department and was excited to return to his active lifestyle. In just his 26 days of being here.
