How did this patient hear about Quality Center for Rehabilitation & Healing? Relative was previous resident at Quality Center
Details of Experience:
Cynthia Foster, 59, arrived to Quality Center for Rehabilitation & Healing in seek of rehabilitation and therapy. During her stay at St. Thomas West Hospital, Cindy underwent surgery for a right below the knee amputation. She was admitted to Quality Center with 21 staples to her right lower extremity site and a small opening to the right lateral amputation site. During her journey at Quality Center, Cynthia has benefited from state-of-the-art wound care to facilitate healing and prevent bacterial infection. She was unaware that she was a type 2 diabetic prior to arriving to Quality center, which ultimately led to the amputation of her right leg.
Mrs. Foster has an unbelievably positive attitude regarding her outlook. She has been attending physical and occupation therapy six times per week since her admission. When asked about her progress thus far she would share, “I am thrilled with my progress so far. I love my occupational and physical therapists. They continually push me to do things that have allowed me to gain my mobility back.”
Only 29 days after her amputation, she is now able to transfer herself and ambulate with lone support from her walker. “I would not have been able to do it without the love and support of my family and friends”, said Cynthia. As of now, Cynthia’s discharge date has yet to be determined as she continues to benefit from the programming at Quality Center. She intends to be fitted for a prosthetic in the very near future and subsequently continue her therapy. She is excited about new beginnings and having the ability to drive once again!
