Details of Experience:
Joshua Forrester is a 44-year-old male who was admitted to Bethany on 7/7/17 due to osteomyelitis and MRSA in his LLE that led to him having his leg amputated below the knee. He was a patient with us a year ago in August for an infection in a non-healing diabetic ulcer on his LLE. Prior to him becoming a patient here at Bethany back in 2014, he had to have his right leg amputated. To date he is now a bilateral below the knee amputee.
Mr. Forrester was admitted and already had his RLE prosthetic, which allowed him to ambulate using an assistive device prior to receiving new prostheses for both legs. This visit differs from his last greatly. He is determined to keep going and the hard work ahead isn’t a deterrent. He has progressed very well in therapy having only had his new prosthetic since July 28th.
Todd and Dennis with the Amputee Walking School have been introduced to Mr. Forrester and during their meeting, Joshua mentioned how the support of his contacts at the prosthetic company he uses along with the new support from Todd and Dennis have really helped him in this journey so far. Mr. Forrester is working daily on small goals and was given some tips from both Todd and Dennis that he will be able to implement while he works with the therapy staff here at Bethany. Mr. Forrester plans to keep in touch with the team here as well as with the Amputee Walking School to help ensure that he continues his recovery when he discharges home from Bethany Center for Rehabilitation and Healing.
