Details of Experience:
On March 26th Aubrey Goodrum arrived at Southern Hills Medical Center due to suffering from a fall that resulted in a left humerus fracture and generalized weakness. After spending time at Southern Hills Medical Center, Aubrey joined us at Bethany Center on April 4th. She was welcomed by our friendly staff and was given a welcome gift bag. We also took this opportunity to learn more about her!
Shortly after, she was warmly greeted by our administrative staff, therapy teams, clinicians, and several other professionals. We wanted to make sure that we would answer any questions Aubrey may have had. If it’s a patient’s first time entering a skilled nursing community like ours, they typically have many inquiries.
One week following her stay at Bethany Center, Mrs. Goodrum was pleased with the care she was receiving from the whole staff. She was introduced to her assigned therapist, Jonathan, for physical therapy, and Melinda, for occupational therapy.
She was evaluated to see what functionalities she was capable of. This evaluation would allow the team to set plans and goals custom-tailored to Aubrey’s rehabilitative needs.
The plans were to stabilize Aubrey’s psychosocial needs and help gain back independence. Mrs. Goodrum’s ultimate goal was to return home to her family with the ability to walk again.
Aubrey participated in many therapeutic exercises including bicycling, leg exercises, pump exercises with her feet to help with blood circulation, and rising of the legs. She accomplished walking up and down the stairs with little to no assistance.
Aubrey stated that she had arthritis in both knees and previously had breast cancer. Before her fall, she had also undergone two surgeries that she was recovering from. Although she was faced with many obstacles to overcome all at once, she managed to come out on top. Mrs. Goodroom would like to encourage others and tell them that all it takes is determination and a lot of faith; keep pushing!
On May 1st, Mrs. Goodrum was discharged home to her family with home health. She was presented with a going home gift duffle bag to help assist with packing. We are wishing her the best as she continues to accomplish her goals. She is a delight to talk to and will be missed by our team. We love you here at Bethany Center!
