Details of experience:
Imagine a beautiful, sunny day in Florida and you decide to take a ride on your motorcycle. You’re riding down the open road, feeling the warm Florida breeze on your face and the next thing you know you’re lying on the concrete. Unfortunately, this scary accident was John’s. He was extremely fortunate that he was not more severely hurt, considering he was not wearing a helmet!. Believe it or not, this was not his first motorcycle accident, this was his third! His first crash was in 2009 and he suffered left-sided rib fractures and left clavicular fracture, and in 2012 he suffered nasal bone fractures and facial lacerations. John was flown by helicopter to St. Mary’s Medical Center. Upon arrival as the staff was examining him, they saw that he had a deformity to his right femur with an open wound, fractured scapula and dislocated 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th MTP joints.
On October 17th, John was taken to surgery to repair his extensive injuries from his motorcycle crash. He was at St. Mary’s Medical Center for 3 weeks. He arrived at Jupiter Rehab on October 31st. When he arrived he was non-weight bearing with his right upper extremity and right lower extremity. John required max total assist for all functional mobility and activities of daily living.
John worked hard during his therapy sessions, six days a week! He looked forward to his therapy sessions because he wanted to be able to get strong and get back on his feet. He worked hard for 9 weeks! His hard work paid off. At the time of his discharge, John had progressed to limited supervision for all his mobility and activities of daily living!
We are so proud of John and how hard he worked to get better, we wish him all the best!
