Carl was admitted to Good Samaritan Hospital due to physically collapsing as a result of dehydration. Upon his admission to GSH, Carl was evaluated and diagnosed with a heart condition. After a brief stay, Carl transitioned into our community at The Willows of Ramapo to receive Physical Therapy with our amazing Rehabilitation Department.

Carl stated that his transition from GSH to The Willows at Ramapo was smooth, and the travel was short. Carl also emphasized that the distance from his residence was close by, and the facility looked nice. Carl had the pleasure of meeting his team, consisting of the Concierge, Head Nurse, Physician, PT, Dietician, LPN and CNA. Carl adjusted well to the environment and met his team in PT, who spoke with him about his goals, which he needed to achieve prior to discharge. His identified goals would help him improve his ability towards enhanced mobility and movement, balance, and fall prevention.

Carl worked his way up from doing PT/OT in bed to being transported to the Gym to do his session. Ultimately, he was able to work hard and build the strength needed to graduate to a walker. As Carl’s strength grew, so did his will to walk out of our community upon discharge. Carl always had positive, encouraging words to say about all the staff. He said he had improved since his initial admission and respects the hard work that all the staff put forth to make his recovery smoother.

Prior to discharge, he was extremely appreciative of the opportunity to have gained the strength to walk out of The Willows. Carl always spoke so highly of the professionalism presented in the gym when he received physical therapy. He was so enthused with his therapy session in the morning. I would see him, and he responded, saying therapy sessions were about to start soon. With his determination and supportive team, he successfully recovered, gained strength, and achieved the goals needed.
