How did the patient hear about the Quality Center? Dr. Joshua Porter Smith from Vanderbilt

Details of experience:

Mrs. Alice Dodd arrived at Quality Center for Rehabilitation and Healing on October 31st, 2023 after a previous stay at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, due to a motor vehicle accident that resulted in the loss of her husband as he was the passenger in the vehicle. As a result of the wreck, Mrs. Dodd received cervical, sternal and rib fractures. Dr. Joshua and two therapists recommended she come to Quality for inpatient therapy and skilled care due to her not being safe to return home at the time.

Upon Mrs. Dodd’s arrival, she was greeted by several members of our professional team. Within her first 24 hours, Alice met with clinicians, therapists, our physician, administrative staff, and other members of our team, who welcomed her and answered any questions she may have had. He was also greeted by the concierge team, who presented her with a CareRite welcome bag.

Mrs. Alice was visited by our amazing therapy team, who was very excited to work with her. During her physical evaluation, Mrs. Alice required moderate assistance in order to perform bed mobility, sit-to-stand and transfers. She was unable to walk or perform steps at the time of this evaluation.

Throughout the whole month of November, Mrs. Dodd worked hard with therapy to meet all her goals. On her day of discharge, she was able to perform all her activities in daily living (ADLS) tasks with set-up assistance and independence. She was also able to transfer from bed to chair with set-up assistance. Mrs. Alice was able to walk 150 feet with a front-wheeled walker. Mrs. Alice worked well with our therapy team and all her goals were achieved. We could not be any more proud of her!

With a lot of love, care, and hard work she was able to return home following her stay here at Quality with her son and home health. She stated that with the Grace of God and her husband, she is still here for a purpose. That purpose was to get better and go home. We are proud of you and hope nothing but the best for you! Team Quality is happy for Mrs. Dodd and hopes she continues to get better.
